LIVING ROOM: Coffee Table Make Over

I found this table in the Age Concern Warehouse in Milton Keynes for £30:

.... it was simply too good a deal to miss. Yes, it's Ikea but its solid wood and begging for a make over.

The Age Concern Warehouse is an absolute Aladdin's Cave of second hand furniture and brick-a-brack, I've honestly lost count of how many gorgeous bargains which I have found there and its now open on Sunday's as well!

They rely on generous donations of items from you, the general public. Donating to Age UK Milton Keynes is a great way to help the environment by re-using goods instead of sending them to landfill sites.
As long as it is not broken, is in a safe and reasonable condition and you think someone else could make good use of it they will accept most items of furniture.

You can get an idea of what sort of stock they have from this link; and they update this listing regularly too, though nothing beats going there for a good rummage.

OK back to the coffee table....

I had been given a bunch of old paint samples by some of our friends which they didn't need any more as they had finished their decorating project. They were all different kinds of cream and stone and light browns, so I decided to empty all the little pots into an old tuppa wear pot and mix well together (free paint whoop whoop). I then proceeded to paint the whole table with 2-3 coats.

I then used the pine coloured wax, borrowed from very nice neighbours, to finish off and seal.

Love this coffee table and love it even more due to the face it only cost me £30!

BATHROOM: Wall Cabinet makeover

So here is our Bathroom Wall Cabinet as it was when we moved in. Orange fake pine and wicker, probably from Argos or alike and generally a bit grotty.

So I got some paint samples from Wickes (50p per pot and I got two) mixed them together to get a lovely beachy blue and painted the whole thing.

Then finished off with some nice, slightly tinted wood wax...

...and ta da! Made a grotty cabinet into one I want to keep on our bathroom wall. And it really does make a huge difference to whole room.
